 | | Stråkkvartett nr 1 c-moll
(String Quartet No. 1 C minor)
Pergament, Moses
Moses Pergament (1893-1977), one of the first and greatest modernists in Swedish music. Born in Finland, he often spoke of his “dual sources” – Nordic and Jewish. These are manifested in the B minor Violin Sonata. Greatly contrasting dynamics are a quality which this work shares with the C minor String Quartet, and in both of them this is married to a diversity of colour and a fullness of expression still cast in the language of the late Romantics. This is No. 11 in the series Musica Sveciae Modern Classics. |
