 | | Sinfonia del Mare
Nystroem, Gösta
Gösta Nystroem was much inspired by the sea, both in his music and in his painting. His incidental music to Shakespeare’s The Tempest is seldom performed, and this is the first recording of the prelude. More marine-inspired music materialised in 1942–43, namely Sånger vid havet – five songs ranging in mood from sunlit archipelago to shaded beach, from turbulence to consolation. Sinfonia del Mare, Nystroem’s third symphony and his best-known composition, is “Dedicated to all the sailors on the Seven Seas”. This is No. 9 in the series Musica Sveciae Modern Classics. |
