 | | Pianokonsert nr 2 - Symfoni D-moll
(Piano Concerto No 2 - Symphony D minor)
Melchers, H Melcher
Melcher Melchers (1882-1961) was a Swedish composer with a sound knowledge of form, which he among other things acquired in Paris. He lived in the artists' quarter in Montparnasse for 15 years and came to know Matisse and Picasso as well as Erik Satie. Melchers's own creative development followed a more traditional course, however, and he regarded César Franck as his model. This is evident in his forceful Symphony in D minor, which was much acclaimed when it was first performed in 1926. His Piano Concerto No. 2 from 1931 is finer in texture and the tonal language is more elegant. This is No. 17 in the series Musica Sveciae Modern Classics. |
