(Swedish Ballets)
Dahl, Viking/ Pergament, Moses
Both these ballets were composed in Paris during the 1920s. While living in Paris, francophile Viking Dahl was encouraged by some of the radical composers of the time, such as Darius Milhaud and Maurice Ravel. Maison de fous - The Madhouse - was created for Les Ballets Suédois company.
Moses Pergament wrote his ballet music Krelantems and Eldeling, originally written for Les Ballets Russes, in the German musical tradition - with elements of Nordic tone - and under the inspiration of the performance of Stravinsky's Sacre du printemps in Paris. This recording features a suite from the ballet music.
This is No. 4 in the series Musica Sveciae Modern Classics. |
