(Swedish Violin Sonatas)
Koch, Sigurd von/ Melchers, H Melcher/ Rosenberg, Hilding
The violin sonata was a much-cultivated genre during the early decades of this century, with Edvard Grieg and Emil Sjögren as its foremost exponents. Sigurd von Koch's violin sonata is impulsive and impassioned, Rosenberg's second violin sonata is one of the most lyrical pieces he ever wrote, and Melchers' French-inspired sonata is a full-sounding composition in which the piano has an important part to play.
This is No. 5 in the series Musica Sveciae Modern Classics.
