Kallstenius, Edvin
Edvin Kallstenius is one of the most idiosyncratic personalities in Swedish musical life. A large proportion of his output consists of orchestral music, including five symphonies, of which the second, which the composer himself considered the best, is presented here. Also included on this CD is the song cycle "Sångoffer" (Song Offering) to poems by Tagore and the "Rhapsody on melodies from Dalecarlia", with the beautiful section which has come to be known as "Visa" (Ballad). This is No. 6 in the series Musica Sveciae Modern Classics. |
