Chrichan Larson


Born in Stockholm on the 4th January, 1956. He studied the cello with Gustav Gröndahl at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, receiving his Soloist Diploma in 1974. He then continued his cello studies in Paris with Paul Boufil from 1974 to 1975 and with Reine Flachot and Mstislav Rostropovich in Basle.
Larsson has been principal cellist with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and guest principal cellist with the Stockholm Opera Orchestra, and he has also played in several other Swedish orchestras. He was a member of the Ensemble InterContemporain in Paris under Pierre Boulez’s conductorship from 1983 to 1989, and he also plays in various other chamber music groups, including the Trio des Lyres and Flux.
Parallel with his work as a cellist Crichan Larsson has also been composing. During his student years he studied harmony and composition with Hans Eklund, and in 1976 he studied with Gerald Bennet in Basle.
Chrichan Larsson is also an author and debater.
