Johan-Magnus Sjöberg
JOHAN-MAGNUS SJÖBERG was born in Östra Grevia on the 7th June, 1953, but grew up in Växjö where he was a pupil at the municipal music school. He received his Cantor’s Certificate in 1975, after which he attended the choir leader course at the Malmö College of Music and he is now working as a choirmaster. Sjöberg is basically self-taught as a composer and has primarily been influenced by American music.
There is an emphasis on organ music, choral works and chamber music in his composing, which contains many examples of electro-acoustic techniques. His compositions include Face it for wind quintet which was performed at the Poznan Spring Festival in 1989. Sjöberg has also been represented at the Lerchenborg Festival in Denmark in 1991, the Warsaw Autumn Festival in 1992 and Stockholm New Music in 1993.
