Hans-Erik Dahlgren

HANS-ERIK DAHLGREN Born on the island of Frösön in Jämtland on the 17th April, 1954. He studied church music and composition at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, where the composer Einar Englund was an important influence in his capacity of teacher of counterpoint and composition. Dahlgren has also studied organ and composition in Norway. In 1973 he founded the Nordic Choir which has made frequent concert appearances, and in the late 80s he worked as producer, conductor and choral adviser with the Gotland Regional Music Foundation in Visby.
His list of compositions includes a work for wind quintet and chorus, All Saints’ Day (1988), which has been frequently performed.
Besides composing and conducting, Hans-Erik Dahlgren has also been head of the board of culture in Strömsund since 1991.
