Ivo Nilsson

Born in Stockholm on the 9th March, 1966. He is both a composer and a trombone-player, educated at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and at IRCAM in Paris. He made his début as a soloist in the first performance of Lars Ekström’s trombone concerto with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and as a composer with an octet which was premièred by the Ensemble L’Itinéraire.

Since 1989 he has worked as a freelance musician, specialising in the interpretation of contemporary music. He has given première performances of a large number of solo pieces and chamber music works.

Ivo Nilsson has appeared at the ISCM World Music Days, Musica (Strasbourg), Gaudeamus Music Week and Stockholm New Music, and his own music has also been performed at these festivals.

As a composer Nilsson has mainly concentrated on chamber music. He is also interested in live electronics and works of performance character. Photo Lars Torndahl
