Strindberg, Henrik
Henrik Strindberg’s (b. 1954) compositions are also about the not audible. During his years as as a composer Strindberg has created various systems for composing and his originality lies in how he uses these systems to reach a musical expression.
In the mid seventies, Strindberg was a multi-instrumentalist in Ragnarök, one of the best Swedish progressive rock bands. By the juxtaposition of electrical and acoustical instruments, Ragnarök produced a multi-layered but richly knit fabric of laid back mood music that was sometimes far away from the tougher expression of contemporary rock. He brought with him the experiences from Ragnarök when he took the step towards art music. The movable textures and the sharp edges from rock were important in this initial phase of Strindberg’s development and his background as a progressive rock musician has contributed to his attitude to work with music without making any compromises.
